About Us
The name "Plates" is derived from the surname of the owner, Deuden Plaatjies which means "plates" when translated into English. Mr Plaatjies grew up in a rural community known as Eersterivier, situated on the Stellenbosch wine route about 10km from the famous Spier Wine Estate. Deuden's dream of establishing his own passenger transport business developed at the age of 13 and throughout his high school career it was this very dream that kept him motivated.
After completing grade 12, Deuden entered into higher education where he completed a Travel and Tourism Diploma Course and later achieved his Tourist Guide Credentials at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
In 2005, the year Deuden completed his studies, Plates’ Coach Tours was born.
